Mapping Earthquakes and Volcanoes Lab
Procedure:
- Observe Examine Figure 1.1, which shows the Earth’s continents, oceans and tectonic plate boundaries.
- Data Table 1.1 lists the locations by latitude and longitude, of several volcanoes. Plot each location on Figure 1.1. Use a marker to draw a small triangle where each volcano occurs.
- Data Table 1.2 lists several locations where earthquakes have occurred. Plot each location on Figure 1.1. Use the other marker to draw a small square where each earthquake occurred.
- Outline and Label all Tectonic Plates and shade in the 7 major plates.
- Using the map on p.256 in the earth science book, draw arrows along each plate boundary showing direction of movement
- Label each boundary either Convergent, Divergent, or Transform
- Turn your sheet into the box for credit
