In this unit we will discuss how the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon all interact with our solar system as well as several processes and forces that are at work.
Goals-Identify some of the issues that scientists face when landing the mars rover and the solutions that the use to fix those problems.
-What are some of the factors that you will face when dropping your egg? -Do you thin that space exploration is important? Why or what not? -Explain how the Earth’s magnetic field is important to life on Earth -Decribe the “Big Bang Theory” and how it applies to life on earth -Explain the hierarchy of the universe -Discuss barycenter and how this concept is used to determine stellar mass -Explain differential heating of the Earth’s surface (water temperature vs. land temperature.) -Identify the forms of energy produced by stars (the sun.) -Differentiate between nuclear fusion and nuclear fission -Compare and contrast the 3 ways in which energy is transferred -Explain what causes the seasons and the tides -Explain and differentiate between the 4 motions of the Earth (rotation, revolution, precession, and nutation.) -Explain how a planets rotation and revolution around the Sun affect its shape Misconceptions
